Customer feedback:

1. I have seen some of the problems stated with the internal Mic and I have had none of them (I do have the upgraded Firmware that is now standard 1.03, and Kodak says this completely eliminates the issue…again have never had the issue on my camera). A relative of mine was lucky enough to purchase this product when Kodak did an ‘early’ release a few months ago and occasionally his videos will have a bit of a higher pitched background noise, but it doesn’t interfere with the sound from the video — its just a light background noise that, honestly, i’ve heard on dozens of cameras. Don’t forget, without an external Mic the camera only records mono so — the sounds quality isn’t going to be great anyway!
The video is great, image stability isn’t as advanced as those available on more expensive cameras but it is better than anything i’ve seen in a FLiP or other Kodak model. It does work and you can see a difference, even if its not huge. Its SO easy to flip between video modes. The 1080p is awesome, but sometimes its nice to move back down to 720 and the 60fps to capture ‘action’ footage.

2. Its been a long time since I have been pleased with anything from Kodak other then film and paper. It seemed like for a long time they were playing catch up with other companies which were doing digital things better then they were. Like Epson Printers and Nikon Digital cameras for photographers looking to make the transition from film to digital during the infancy of this movement.
I was looking for a pocket sized video camera that had more features, better quality, and was easier to use for transferring videos to the computer then my cell phone. I got that and more with this camera. It has a good weight to it (not heavy and not a feather) the controls are intuitive and capturing a clip is a snap. I had gotten a Flip and just wasn’t pleased enough with it to justify the cost. The Zi8 seems worth the price and more.
The wall charger, cable, and socket on unit itself, don’t seem as sturdy as they should. In fact I had to return the first unit I got because it appeared that the socket’s solder connection was bad and the connection was spotty. The replacement unit I got the next day from amazon was much better and felt more solid. I think the first one was just a lemon in that respects. Considering that it charges from the computer when it is plugged in means that there are 2 wholly separate ways of charging the unit. Considering this is my biggest complaint and amazon took care of it within 24 hours I am happy

Customer feedback:

1. Review based on 720p/60fps…

Great video quality. However loses some of that quality in low light situation. Turning on any light source(s) would definitley help.
Audio is clear and does pick up distant noises, but best up closer.
The digital zoom operates smoothly, with little to no jumpiness when zooming in or out.
LCD glare filter changes the contrast settings of the screen to help with sun glare.
EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) helps but I imagine would not take much to go past the design limits. I think the Playsports design actually helps contribute to EIS because how nice a fit it is in your hand which helps keep the recorder steady.
Size and durability. Feels very sturdy. The rubberized coating should make it easier to grip when it gets wet. Plus no annoying finger marks.
Plug and play. Easily connects to a TV using the supplied HDMI or component cables.
Battery charges via USB or 120V adaptor.
Have not tried the underwater feature or any still shots yet, but am excited to try it out at the pool come summer. Hopefully it doesn’t disapoint.

2. I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon does not have anything that compares to Kodak Playsport HD waterproof pocket video camera. At 1080P the video recording is acceptable. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the results are great. I have used it around and in water, the blue filter helps under water. I am planning to use this for our Disney World vacation this year in the Water Parks.
This camera takes 5MP HD Stills, so now I have a camera that can take video and stills on demand wet or dry. I have other camera’s in the same category like Flip and Samsung both do not compare, even at 720p 60 frames per second.

Customer Feedback

This player has style. Not everybody may fall in love with it, but it has more style than any small gadget I’ve used in a long time.
Playing music and videos is simple and straightforward, the main thing I was looking for in a player. Boot-up time is very short, thumbs up. Subtitle support? Check! Battery life? Excellent.
I have three complaints. First, the player is too picky about video format encoding. Second, a proprietary USB port… not again! There is no reason to use yet another unique cable to connect to a USB port. A mini-USB would work perfectly well for this device. Finally, touch sensitivity of the screen is terrible. You have to touch, then press, then press again, then jam your finger into the screen really hard and hope it works.

Customer Feedback

The FM capabilities are amazing. The auto-tune to set the presets automatically picked up all the stations in my area perfectly — no mistakes. I could then delete the ones I don’t want. The high-resolution display does a great job of displaying all the presets with a verticle line and indicators where each station is. When reaching the highest setting, just push up again and it goes to the lowest, which is what one would want. ALL the stations in my area came in very clearly.
