With a good strong signal this modem works perfectly. It stacks neatly onto an existing Linksys router too. The build quality is typical Linksys which I consider quite good for comsumer level gear. My only regret is that we did not switch sooner.

I needed to replace an expensive FAX modem that failed after several years. This was remarkably affordable, offered a simple USB connection, and seemed to fill the bill. Amazon delivered it quickly (as is typical) and I opened the package. Just a mini-CD with drivers, the modem, and a USB cable… what was advertised. No FAX software supplied (which is OK as I already had mine). Took about 20 seconds to attach the USB (which also powers the modem) and phone line. Another minute to install the drivers. And.. about 30 seconds to have my FAX software autodetect the modem and self-configure.
And.. then about two hours later, the first unexpected FAX came in. Worked perfectly. I’m delighted withe cost, the ease of installation, and the performance. One happy customer here.

The average home or work network has two or more computers accessing the internet simultaneously. Whether they are sending email attachments, making internet VoIP phone calls or playing games online, their applications will have an effect on one another as each application fights for bandwidth in a specific network. The result is a slowdown in ALL applications called “internet lag.”
The Broadband Booster is a plug and play device that is placed between your internet modem and router that eliminates “internet lag” in your network. It manages and “boosts” your internet applications as they exit your network onto the internet for a more efficient usage of your network’s bandwidth. The result is a “lag-free” experience from all internet applications!
Features
- Boost the Speed of your Internet Applications by up to 400%.
- Compatible with all Home or Work Broadband Networks.
- Improves Email, VOIP, Web Cam, Online Gaming, Instant Messaging and overall network performance.
- Great for Networks with Multiple Computers (2 or more).
- Eliminates Lag in Online Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and PC Gaming.
- Plug and Play Installation, Automatic Configuration.
Technical Details

Customer Feedback
I have seen some improvements, but not the maximum 400% quoted. For example, VoIP quality is maintained, even while uploading or downloading files (before, VoIP would really suffer when sending out large email attachments for example).
The same goes for gaming, latency stays low even while doing file transfers. Don’t expect it to do miracles, but especially when you have a network with several computers or you are using several applications at the same time (e.g. VoIP, gaming and file transfers), it will make things run a lot more smoothly than before.

When comparing download speeds with a traditional 28.8k analog modem. Actual speeds will vary, and are often less than the maximum possible. Upload and download speeds are affected by several factors including, but not limited to: network traffic and services offered by your cable operator or broadband service provider, computer equipment, type of server, number of connections to server, and availability of Internet router(s).
Technical Details
- PCs can be located where it is most convenient, not where there is a physical connection.
- Surf the Internet at speeds up to 100 times faster than a 28.8k analog modem.
- Offers 802.11g wireless technology with a range of up to 328 ft indoors and 1312 ft outdoors.

I don’t know what the other reviewer did, but this thing works great, right out of the box! It was a no brainer. I traded in a Lynksys modem and Netgear WiFi router. THAT combo wouldn’t let me videocam. This Motorola does!
But this Motorola was a much cheaper option, works with Comcast and supports webcams with no additional setup. I’m so glad I got it and HIGHLY recommend it. It’s cheaper and takes up less space if you need to purchase both a modem and WiFi router. It was SO easy.
