1. First of all, the remote works very well and is perfect to clip on your jacket so as you walk around you don’t keep having to reach into the pocket for the player to change tracks or pause. It’s perfectly sized, although with my wrap-around headphones it adds length to the cord I have to rein in, but clipping in cord length into the lapel keeps it in control.
As for the performance of the FM radio, it compares evenly with my radio-only Sony Walkman, the reception is great, and it can pick up distant stations well, something I was looking at closely since I’m between two radio markets (Milwaukee and Green Bay) 100 miles apart from each other. Setting up stations was painless and quick, though an option to order the stations according to popularity instead of frequency could make for a better listening experience. The sound on FM is better on the same headphones than that of the Walkman, and tuning into stations not on preset is a breeze with the “analog dial”, so much better than the digital tuning on most portable stereos today.

2. I am not giving this five stars only because the price is a bit steep. I had to get this because I thought I lost my Apple earbuds and this was the only way that Apple will sell you a replacement pair.
I thought the radio option was nice but I didn’t buy an iPod to listen to the radio–although it’s there if you need it (the sound quality for FM radio is much lower than my 224Kpbs Mp3 songs.) Second, I thought the extra wire/cable length got me a bit irritated and made me wish I had not lost the original earbuds.
A week later I am happy I bought this product. It is an A+ remote control. I keep the iPod secure in a pocket or pouch or armband (for the gym). I start a playlist and then use the stop/play, forward and volume up/down button without having to take the iPod out of a secure location and expose to a sandy beach (deadly) or a gym environment.

1. I bought it when the price was $4.95 (plus $6.00 s&h). It was still 1/3 less than Apple’s charger. I have used it for about 6 months without any problems at all. I have not timed it, but it seems to charge my Nano (1G) in about 2-3 hours or less. I am not sure if this works with Nano 2G and Video iPod 5G, but at $0.97, you can buy one and if it doesn’t work, give it to a friend who has an older iPod. I plan on buying another just to have a second. Great buy.

2. I travel constantly for work, so bought a few of these - one to live in the suitcase, one to have in the office, and a couple of spares. In the office, I don’t have iTunes on my computer, so I can use the charger to play my iPod all day long over the folding travel speaker setup that I have and then still be able to use the iPod for the commute home & back to work. 1. First of all, the price is justified by the fact that you get another USB cord with it. At first I thought ‘hey, what do I need another USB cord for?’…Well, it does come in handy because I just keep one of them hooked to my computer all the time and I take the other one with me for convenient, away from computer, charging. That way the one is always where I need it when I want to download more music and the other one is always ready for charging away from my computer. I got a full charge in less than 2 hours with the adapter. I love the fold-away plug and it comes in a nice, tidy box that you can just keep the plug and the usb cord in so that everything is together and easy to find, or to pack in your travel bag.

1. For those who may be interested in acquiring an iPod Touch as a replacement for a PDA, I have found it to be quite useful. The primary function used in this regard is syncing with Microsoft Outlook, which works flawlessly. Now I can check appointments and find those phone numbers for early morning conference calls without waiting 10 minutes for my laptop to boot up. The new software improves the functionality by adding the notes capability, and I even find myself frequently viewing video podcasts - something I never thought I would use.
The most important functions for me in a portable device are calendar, music, notes, photos, and Audible book playback, all of which this iPod handles very nicely. I have also used the maps feature for driving directions - load it up while on the home WiFi network, then the directions are retained for reference - in a much more useful format than if you print out the directions on Google. Just bring along a navigator, as I would not recommend trying to read the iPod while driving. The same applies to paper maps, of course.
2. Now onto the product….simple, sleek, amazing. Set up out of the box could not have been easier. Make sure you have the most updated version of itunes onyour computer, plug in the USB cord and you’re up and running. Give it a full 3-4 hour charge first time through. Load up your music, pictures, videos. The software is simplicty defined. If you can use a toaster over, you can use this device. The wi-fi immediatley found my home network (and my neighbor’s). Setting up email: simple. Surfing the web: simple. And, oh yeah, using it to listen to music (ostensibly what it is for): a lifting and beautiful experience.

1. I frequently record interviews as part of my job as a magazine editor; they’re a drag to transcribe, but it was a bigger drag before I started using digital recorders. The MicroMemo has performed extremely well on “mission critical” recordings in the field.
2. I purchased this a week before my college classes started this quarter, primarily to record lectures. It is past the half way point of the quarter, and I am pleased with the results. Recording is easy; just snap it on the bottom of the iPod and the recording menu will automatically show up. From there you have an option of recording in either high or low quality.
Personally, I did not find any great difference in quality, but there is a significant difference in the power consumption (with the high quality mode sucking almost all the battery power of my 30gb iPod video when recording for 80 minutes), and file size (low quality mode records at about 2.5 mb/min) between the two options.
My class lectures are 80 minutes long, and I had no problem with battery life. In fact, I am able to record 3 of these lectures in one day, as well as walk around campus using my iPod, and still have about a quarter of the battery life left.

1. As the description says, the small efficiently designed little “sub-pods” pop right onto the top, offering either a medium bright flashlight or a red laser pointer. As a university teacher, I am frequently involved in presentation situations where I am in the back of a darkened room commenting on Powerpoint or other computer images. Since I often use my iPod in the class as well, the flashlight is a perfect momentary plug-in to check notes. The laser is useful and works well, allowing me to focus attention on areas of a painting, image, map, or text with ease.
2. I put the lanterns on my car key chain. It’s convenient, and the torch or flash light really comes in handy in places like Disney World or the road at night when looking at maps: focused light is better than overhead car light. Also, the torch or flash light is brighter than is generally credited. It will not work as a fully functional lantern, but if it’s dark enough to warrant a lamp, you can see the ground with 20/20 vision.

1. Sound Quality - Excellent. With the autogain off the recording is completely hiss free. With autogain on some his and distortion is introduced but it is acceptable. Stereo separation is good, excellent when you consider how small the microphone is. The two quality settings - high and low - correspond to 44.1 kHz (CD quality) and 22 kHz.
Format - the files are in the WAV format and run about 10MB per minute I high quality mode. These can easily be converted in to mp3 or any other format.
Controls are minimal. Plug it into the dock connector and your iPod automatically goes to the record menu. Press the Play/pause button and you begin recording. Once recording begins the center button acts as a pause. Once your are done, scroll the clickwheel to “Stop and Save.” When the save is complete, you go to a menu with your recording. File names are a date/time stamp. If you have the Tune talk already attached but you are doing something else (listening to music) you can go straight to the recording menu by pressing a button on the left of the Tune Talk. On the bottom along with the autogain and line input is a mini USB connector that allows you to power your iPod while recording.
2. Very good quality stereo sound. Recordings immediately retrievable on iPod. Menus are intuitive and work without flaw as far as I can see. No separate software downloads needed. Only hesitation I would have is in how limited my need to record voice/sound is. For me small cost for good quality product is worthwhile for me even if I happen not to use it often. Others may doubt buying something they don’t use all that often.

1. This product - used for the first time today - worked perfectly. I needed to record a meeting and certainly preferred the option of that recording then becoming a digital file (visible to and stored in ITunes). Once attached to the IPod, it was a couple of clicks to simply begin recording. The two pieces of equipment ‘recognized’ one another without a hitch. I recorded a 40-minute meeting, came home, connected my IPod to my computer and - snap - the recorded ‘memo’ immediately downloaded from the IPod to ITunes. The sound quality is fine (I didn’t use an additional microphone) and I especially like having a permanant copy of this meeting in a digital format. I should note this was an interview in a quiet room where the IPod was placed between two people on a desk. No ambient noises to be concerned about, no long distances to cover. Will it work under those conditions? I don’t know. But it did what I needed it to do. Very handy. FYI, I recorded in ‘high’ quality and the file size was about 400 MB. My experience has been that Griffin delivers quality products that integrate well with Apple products. No muss, no fuss.
2. If I could prepare this review in the same amount of time it took me to figure out how to operate Griffin’s new iTalk Pro iPod microphone, you would already be finished reading. Here’s how to use the microphone:
* Remove cute little black gizmo from its package, pry off plastic cover for iTalk Pro’s iPod generic 30-pin connector, insert iTalk Pro into your latest-model (5th generation) iPod with video or (2nd generation) iPod nano, wait a couple of seconds, press iTalk button in the center of iTalk Pro, and start speaking.
* Press iTalk button again when you are finished recording.
* There is no step three. Where did I hear that previously?

1. My first reaction upon opening the box was astonishment at how small the Nano is! I had never seen one before. It is very slick. Itunes is pretty smart about letting me update the 8 GB Nano from the music library I had accumulated for my 20 GB iPod. It creates a special playlist for the Nano to define what songs are specifically downloaded to the smaller device. I had actually thought I would have to set up a completely new music library, and go through the tedium of reloading all those CDs.
2. While everything pointed me in the direction of the Nano, I wasn’t sure about the 8 vs 30 GB. What I did was to install iTunes, rip all of my CDs, all of them and make a backup on an external USB disk (even with the 80 GB iPod you still need to backup the data somewhere, as it is not a matter of if but when you’re going to loose something) and while it was more than 8 GB, I knew I didn’t want to listen to all of my songs. As a matter of fact, there are some albums I only care for a couple of songs. So I started rating my songs and putting in different play lists. Guess what, I didn’t even get close to 8 GB, not even if I double my collection.
This was the final answer I needed, I ordered the 8 GB model and WOW! It’s amazing. It’s my first iPod, I used many other MP3 players in the past but this is by far the best, most complete, most advanced, really outstanding sound-reproducing device I ever used. You can’t realize how small and handy it is until you have one in your hands (and you know it’s yours!).
