This spring I started using it for kayaking and I was super impressed with the image, no fog lens and waterproof nature of the whole unit. I took several gnarl y swims and the camera captured everything.

Some hints for success:
- Trust the double sticky Velcro that comes with the unit. It really does work.
- Spend time with it, get used to it and know how to aim it before trying to capture the “must have footage”. I think it took 2 or 3 tries per helmet to get the aim perfect.
- When using the remote, set the audio “beep” as high as it will go so you can hear it.
- Keep the unit in your jacket pocket not in your backpack for warmth.
- Zip ties – Use them and love them. One of the best features of the POV is that you can mount base plates on all your sporting helmets and leave them there while the camera c-clamp slides on to whatever you’re doing that day. Once you have your aim dialed in, zip tie the hell out of the plate and you’ll never have to mess with it.
- Purchase a set of AA rechargeable batteries – They are great for 90% of your usage.

Pros:
- Comes with mounting options that can be customized to work for just about any application.
- Comes with 2 GB SD card.
- Very well build, doesn’t feel cheap at all.
- Rotating lens to accommodated angles when mounted.
- No external recording device needed.

Cons:
Near HD video, I wouldn’t call it HD quality even though the video dimensions are HD, but outstanding for a small wearable camera.

Overall I would recommend this camera to anyone wanting to record Point of View sports action. The quality of the product and video are well worth the price. I would see what you can do with the included mounting options for you order the other mounts. Great product!

This camera is fierce competition for Canon’s XL1S. It has the features you need, the Sony name, and flawless transfer. WARNING!: This is NOT for the amateur home videoer. The parameters are begging to be tweaked – just for fun. Settle for a Handycam if you’re just filming Billy’s soccer game. This one right here is made to be USED. Good for media students, career filmers/editors, and anyone who wants to REALLY have some interesting fun…Sony doesn’t disappoint on this one.
