Image quality on both cam are similar, very good with sufficient light and bad with low light, that’s the reason for 4-stars. The other real plus is recording software works well and [...] is a real bonus. I only wish Amazon will put the wireless version on Gold Box soon.

Worked great right out of the box. Instructions were easy to follow, installation was smooth, and it’s simple to use. I like that there’s no software included, the AVI files play fine in Windows Media Player and in QuickTime. Picture quality is pretty good….just be careful not to move the camera around too much or the video becomes shaky. Putting it in my shirt pocket produces a better result than using the lanyard. It’s also very handy for quick point-and-shoot video since it travels light. I love having the Webcame aspect with the bracket as a bonus!

The TX-1 produces excellent quality still pictures, very good 720p video, is tiny, not easily scratched, has a huge zoom, great image stabilization, and will end up being something you will want to toss into a pocket or bag and capture a spontaneous, memorable moment. This is a really substantial camera. Especially with the opt wide angle from Canon and the matte box provided, this does not look like your mama’s camcorder.
I really like the manual controls, so that you don’t have to go thru menus to change parameters. The layout of everything is great. I really like the dual on/off and zoom controls- top of handle plus rear right side. Holding the handle for low or medium height shots is very, very comfortable and the controls are perfectly positioned.
Only down side- and it is incidental. The matte box is a bit flimsy- lightweight plastic.
