Customer feedback:

1. am really impressed how well these work for computer games. Sounds are tack sharp and there is a good spatial sense between fore and aft. No real booming bass. Good fit and pretty comfortable in the long haul. Bulky and somewhat heavy. The ends are somewhat noticeable in the corner of my eyes. Works well for shooters, RTS, KOTR, WOW, hmm just about everything. Doom3, scary as hell… Completely encloses the ear. The really nice thing is that I can play games and HEAR what is going on. Also muffles outside noise. For movies on my PC (you need front, rear, and center/sub 1/8″ stereo phone jacks) they again makes everything sharp.

2. This my second pair. I use them for playing BF2 mainly. Sound is great for 5.1 suround. You will always know where the action is. The only down fall with these is the wires are very fine and tend to break near where they enter the earphones. I had probably near 2000 hours of gaming before I broke down and bought a new pair.

Ear Force X3 Headset: Chat + Wireless Game Audio, for Xbox 360

With Xbox 360 Wireless Headsets you can pump up the volume without disturbing friends, family or neighbors. Wireless Xbox 360 gaming headsets allow you to freely move around as you play. Hear every nuance of the game - from an opponent sneaking up behind you to your teammate¿s voice right next to you. Trash talk online & Block out distractions at the same time. The Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 wireless xbox 360 headsets are everything you need for an amazing gaming experience.

Product Features

* Stereo Expander to provide a wider sound field for richer, fuller sound
* Bass Boost - just like turning up the sub-woofer on a home theater system.
* Automatically adjusts incoming Xbox Live chat levels during loud game moments, so chat from teammates isn’t lost in exciting parts of the game play. When the game volume quiets down, the chat level smoothly returns to the normal volume setting.
* The headphones are designed for long battery life and will automatically shut off
* Microphone monitoring - lets gamer hear own voice along with other chat

Ear Force X3 Headset: Chat + Wireless Game Audio, for Xbox 360

Customer feedback:

1. Pros of the X3s:
* Set up takes about 3 minutes. Plug and play.
* The earphones are comfy — even on my big, adult head
* Wireless
* Can “hear” yourself talk through the headphones
* “Bass boost” option mode (a switch near the volume)
* TWO volume dials: one for overall gameplay, another for Xbox Live chat. For example, I love Call of Duty 4, but you are unable to turn off the lobby’s default music in between games. With the other headphones, I had trouble hearing folks. The X3s enable you to dial down the music altogether — so you just hear the chat in the lobby.
* Mute button
* Surround sound is good … you can tell where the bad guys are coming from

CONS:
Sound quality is good — but not amazing. But remember that these are wireless. The wired headphones have a bit of an advantage in overall sound quality.

Tip: With the Turtle Beach X3s, unlike ALL of the other headphones, under the “voice” personal options 360 menu, select the default “Play Voice through Headset” and not “both headset and speakers.”

2. Love the Turtle Beach X3 headset. The ability to independently control the background noise from the chatter of fellow players is key! The default headset Microsoft gives you sucks. If you play Call of Duty 4 your game stats will improve by more than 20%. You can now play late at night and not wake anyone. You can hear fellow players foot steps in the game. The ability to turn up/down your fellow players is critical. I love being able to mute racist lobby chatter, but crank critical team mate intel in the game.
One KEY piece of info is that if you hear clipping in voices or folks complain that they can’t hear you it means you need fresh batteries.

Ear Force X4 Dolby Digital Wireless Headphones

The Ear Force X4 wireless headphones push your Xbox 360 gaming experience to a whole new level with the thrill and realism of Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound. Pump up the volume without disturbing friends, family, or neighbors. Freely move around as you play. Hear every nuance of the game – from an opponent sneaking behind you to your teammate’s voice right next to you. Trash talk online. Block out distractions. Feel the game expand all around you and become a better player. Conventional Xbox 360 communicator headsets compromise the gaming experience by covering one ear for chat, leaving only a single ear for game audio from the speakers. The Ear ForceX4 Wireless Headphones overcome this problem by playing both the game audio AND the online chat on a single set of high fidelity headphones. The result is the intense experience, privacy, clarity, and competitive edge of PC headphones on the Xbox 360 platform. The Ear Force X4 Xbox 360 Wireless Headphones let you totally focus on your game play and not become distracted by the noise around you. With Dobly surround sound pumped right into your ears, you can hear every nuance of the game all around you in a way that isn’t possible when hearing it as background sound with speakers. In addition, because the Xbox Live chat is mixed in with the game signal, you can hear what everyone is saying right in the middle of your head, enabling you to communicate more effectively with other players.

Ear Force X4 Dolby Digital Wireless Headphones

Product Features

* Dolby Pro Logic II provides surround sound from PLII encoded audio and also enhances stereo
* Hear XBOX Live Chat plus stereo game sound with a heart-thumping bass boost that adds sonic realism
* Dynamic Talkback lets you hear chat even when the game gets louder; Separate controls for game and chat volumes.
* Eliminates game sounds picked up by chat mic; mic monitor lets you hear what you’re saying
* Digital input for highest XBOX sound quality, plus analog input for TV and other audio sources

Customer feedback:

1. Lightweight and everything as advertised. I wish the ear cups were a little larger, but the wireless feature is a huge blessing. I recommend if you can afford them. I have had two other 5.1 headphones, and these are the best.

2. I bought the X4’s hoping they would have addressed the hissing and they had not. That being said the X4’s have very good 5.1 sound. The hissing is at its loudest when the cable from the puck is plugged into the headphones. If I’m playing single player games I do not plug it in and they sound great. Even with the cable plugged in the hissing is only detremental when there is no game sounds or in a lobby and hardly noticeable in the heat of action.
A nice feature is the fact that I can receive 5.1 surround on my X4’s and X3’s at the same time which is nice for watching movies with the wife and not waking up the baby (and yes the X4’s do sound better than the X3’s in a side by side comparison over 5.1). Another nice feature is that it has an optical out so if I want to play the sound through my receiver and surround speakers I just turn on the receiver without rewiring.

# With the Pulsar SX, your game audio not only sounds great, it feels great too due to “Sonic Force Feedback” vibration effects. This gives the gamer a realistic and uncompromised audio experience.

Customer feedback:

1. The Pulsar has lights, vibration and you can connect with either USB or the usual Stereo Audio jack for your sound card. I liked that option because I have a Dell laptop that does not have a good sound card so I use USB. On my gaming computer I plug it into my X-Fi sound card. The sound is really good for the price you pay. The bass seems pretty deep for these speakers. Probably due to the extra vibration effects. I got a little tired of the vibration so I turned it down using the control box. The control box has several switches and dials that allow you to control the strength of the lights and vibration or turn them off completely. I wore them to a LAN center and the lights were a big hit. In a low light setting these lights are really cool. I can’t see them, but everyone else could, which is kind of neat because they let people know if you’re listening to something. They look good with the lights off too. I also would think that a DJ would like to have these since the lights blink with the game or music.

2. Good:

Affordable
Comfortable
Mic works great
Sound is better than expected
Good looking

Bad: (If I really want to be picky)

Gets a little warm when wearing for two hours in an 80 deg. room

* Drivers - Center, Rear & Subwoofer - 2 x 30mm; Front - 2 x 40mm
* In-line volume adjustment for Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer controls
* Removable microphone

Customer feedback:

These headphones are a very good quality set. The base response they have is impressive, sound quality is very good and they are comfortable enough to wear for a long period of time. The microphone is also excellent with no problems with clarity.
Unfortunately, this company still does not have a good functioning Windows Vista software package for this headset, and doesn’t seem to be in a rush to get one released. Functionality in Vista is therefore greatly limited, and the driver is very annoying - you have to reboot Windows to change from speakers to headphone or vice-versa.

Panasonic RP-HT722 Monitor Headphones with Built-in Surround Control

Customer feedback:

1. The sound quality is remarkably good for the price, especially if you’re using them primarily to watch movies, when the ‘Surround Sound’ gives the music and FX a lot more presence.

Pros (5 stars)
- Price
- Sound quality when ’surround’ is switched on [phones still work when it’s off]
- Volume control [also works when ’surround’ is off]
- Over-the-ear cups help shut out any ambient room noise
- Extra long cord [16.4 ft]

Cons (1 star)
- Surround sound requires 1 AAA battery [phones still work without one, and with ’surround’ off, but the sound is pretty thin by comparison]
- Slightly heavier than others we tried, but still reasonably light [10.6 oz]
- Head band a bit tight at first, but loosens up with use

2. I had spent some time over the last few months looking at surround sound headphones but never actually made a purchase. The only real thing holding me back was the price… I wasn’t sure about dropping $100-$200 on a pair of headphones. Well my fiance found these for me on the panasonic website and they seemed to fit the bill nicely. Honestly I wasn’t really expecting all that much for the price, but WOW I’m impressed. I use them mostly for PC gaming and it really does add a whole new dimension. Great for games, music and movies too. I’d buy them again in an instant (in fact I may buy a second pair to give to my sister soon).

Customer feedback:

1. I had to replace the stock earphones that shipped with my Creative ZEN Vision M. After alot of looking around I found the Aurvana ZEN earphones and ordered a set.
I am very happy with the performance for the size of these earphones and they block outside noise well. If you are looking for great BASS performance get some good to great Headphones because earphones just aren’t big enough to pull off great BASS responce and never will be.
With listening devices size can matter alot. If you want something that works well with a portable like an MP3 player or a laptop I would consider these to be a good choice.
2. I’ve had these headphones for about six months and I didn’t realize how good they were till a couple of days ago. I bought them for my forth deployment to Iraq/Afganistan and now they are history. Of all things do do them in, a field mouse. The little furball chewed them up and ruined them forever. Since I have very little choice but to buy something here(which is next to nothing), I got a $10 pair of Sony cheapies and now i know what I paid for. Yes the Creative had their quirks but based on what I have now, they were more than worth the extra money. solid bass(when fitted properly, you really need to do this), clear mids and highs. It did take a little to get use to them being in my ear, but after that everything was fine. Durability was not a problem. After a couple of training exercises and around three months in this less than perfect area to live in, they held up very well. If you are a little more serious about what you listen to and how you listen to it, these are a good starting point before entering the world of $200.00 to $500.00 sets of earphones.

Customer feedback:

1. If you’re looking for near-audiophile balanced sound (bass, mid and high-frequencies), I think you won’t be disappointed. Great design, great noise cancelling, great battery life, detachable cord, very comfortable, and less than half the price of th QC2. They look better in real life than in the picures.
High quality product, reasonable price. Highly recommended.
2. I owned a set of Bose Quietcomfort2 headphones for about 2 years. I really loved them, and they lasted about… 2 years. Within months of purchasing them, the plastic arms slowly crumbled, until each sidearm of the set was thickly wrapped in electrician’s tape to keep the thing together.
Last week, one headphone cup broke off, and no amount of tape would any longer keep them together. I’ve never traveled with these, I use them only at my desk, I’ve never dropped them.
Even with such care, the plastic slowly crumbled away. Is this planned obsolescence? For something that cost me $350 dollars, I’m very upset.
So, I ordered a set of these Ars Technica headphones. So far, they cancel noise slightly better than the Bose, and in fact allow me to go to a lower volume on music while I’m working at my desk. I guess to really compare to the Bose, I’ll have to give them a little time and see if they begin crumbling away after just 6 months as the Quietcomfort2 did. So, if that happens, I’ll give another review. But for now, I’m happy.

Philips SHN9500 Active Noise Canceling Headphone

Block out irritating background noise and enjoy your music in peace, with these premium range headphones which actively cancel background noise by as much as 85%. Smart noise cancelling technology enhances the pleasure of listening to lower volume levels in noisy environments. It’s particularly good at removing low-frequencies like jet engine noise, so you can enjoy soft music on flights, in trains and similar places without hearing a distracting buzz in the background. The technology actually creates an equal but opposite waveform to the unwanted noise that effectively cancels it out. The mute switch allows you to pause the noise-cancelling function and ‘audio in’ signal to allow for quick conversations without removing the headphones. The ear cushions are very soft, and enclose the speakers around the ears to create a perfect seal and great sound. With very little pressure on the ears, you can use the headphones comfortably for long periods. The easily adjustable mechanism headband provides a comfortable close-fitting acoustic seal between the ear cushion and ear, ensuring optimal performance. The speaker drivers used in these headphones utilise the very best neodymium magnets to meet those high expectations and repeatedly deliver an unforgettable performance.

Philips SHN9500 Active Noise Canceling Headphone

Product features:

* Neodymium magnet produces a strong magnetic field for greater bass response and higher overall sound quality
* Optimal fit in all ears with super soft rubber caps
* Asymmetric cabling system that keeps the 1.2 meter cable tangle free
* 24k Gold plated plug gives a more reliable connection for better quality audio
* Flexi Grip design protects the cable connection from damage due to repeated bending

Customer feedback:

1. I’ve been looking for a pair of noise cancelling headphones. I’m a student so I can’t afford the Bose. After a great deal of searching I found my perfect pair. The sound quality is very good, though admittedly not the best. The ear cushions are comfortable. The noise cancelling is very effective. And the materials are of good quality. They come with a carrying case that will help durability in my back pack.
They’re an excellent buy. This is perfect for budget conscious individuals and/or students who simultaneously expect quality craftsmanship.
2. These headphones work quite well and the battery life is quite good. I have used JVC headphones in the past which had static in one side (esp. when the battery was low). Nice packaging which allows you to keep the unit protected during non-use…
The mute button is especially nice…there are aircraft (A340 is one) which do not adjust the volume of the PA at the same level as the audio stream you are listening to…this translates to someone yelling directly into your ear…the mute will save you a headache and your eardrums.
I’m not sure the NC technology is as good as Bose or others, but it does kill white noise pretty good…you will still hear the baby in row 33 :-(
Overall, the comfort is good, not too much pressure on your head or ears…many do not have deep enough pockets for your ears and push excessively on the ears causing pain, esp on long flights. I wore these for nearly 18 straight hours to India and back…no issues.
