1. I haven’t had the chance to conpare this unit to the readings at the doctors office (taking them at the same time). But I have taken readings at the drug store and then 5 min later taking it at home. It does seem to give true readings. They has never been any really off readings. No wild swings.
It is very easy to use and comes with good instructions and a nice carrying case. Makes it easy to take on vacation with you. AC adapter makes it where you don’t have to worry about dead batteries.

1. A doctor and myself measured readings done manually and readings done by this little machine, and found either way to be only a couple of numbers different.
My mom loves it, and we found the same model on Amazon for alot cheaper than 100.00. I have had poor experiences with another wrist blood pressure monitor that was 39.99. This little Omron is quick, easy, and correct. Some of it’s features: If you move your arm while you take the blood pressure, it shows an E for error. The batteries last about three motnhs. On this model, there is no battery indicator. It stores over 10 blood pressure readings. It also measures the pulse. There’s no date or time stamp, but I didn’t have good luck with the model with that feature.
To me, every house should have one of these cuffs, not the cheaper priced cuffs that donot work. I’ve used it at home and at work consistently, and I will buy the exact same cuff again. I hope Omron doesn’t stop making them.

2. This is a great product. My stepfather has developed very thin skin as he has gotten older and has to have his BP taken frequently every day. The regular arm cuff has caused quite a bit of damage to his arm. This cuff is around the wrist where the skin is a little thicker, thus saving his skin and not having to worry about infections to his upper arm. Also love the large digits on the screen. He is much happier and more willing to have his BP taken now. Thank you, Omron!

1. As a scale the Omron HBF-500 is excellent. It is consistent, in tests with my wife and I (who are more than 100 pounds different in weight) the scale gave the same weight each of 5 times in a row that we stepped on it. So it is consistent. I am a nurse and weighed myself on our calibrated scales and found that this scale weighed me 0.5 pounds heavier than the hospital one, which can be explained by the glass of water I drank when I got home. So it is both consistent and accurate.
So what about the body fat monitor: As to the accuracy of the monitor I cannot speak. However, it is very consistent, much more consistent than the experience that I have had with the handheld-only monitors from Omron. The scale will calculate your percent body fat & your percent skeletal muscle. It will also give you a reading of your visceral body fat, which is a better indicator of your health risk associated with body fat (visceral body fat is the fat which is inside your body surrounding your organs, which subcutaneous fat is the fat that we all see just under our skin). Using these calculations and the user-defined height, weight, and age data that you enter, it will give you your resting metabolic energy needs for the day to give you an idea of how much you should be eating to lose weight in a healthy manner.

2. I originally ordered a Tanita scale and it stopped working within two weeks. (Amazon, of course, took it back with no problems.) I was so glad when the Omron scale arrived. It costs less than the Tanita but the quality is much higher. The numbers on it are very large and easy to read. Also, it is much easier to place your feet properly than on the Tanita. I can’t wait to try all the features. By the way, I weighed myself over and over and my weight only varied .2 lbs. as promised. Great deal for the money!!!

1. This is a great hand held body fat analyzer. Very accurate, consistent readings and very user friendly. It takes about one minute to set up the personal information that it needs and takes a few seconds to get the body fat readings, very fast.

2. If you’re trying to maintain a healthy weight - or reach one - then a fat monitor can be key. Being 150 pounds and 50% fat is much different than being 150 pounds at 20% fat! If you haven’t used an electronic fat monitor before, here is how they work. You enter your height and weight. This gives the monitor a rough idea of how long an electrical current should take to go in one end of you and out the other. Then you hold two plates in your hands, and it sends a quick electrical message in one hand and out the other. It doesn’t hurt at all - you can’t feel it at all. But by tracking the speed of the signal, the monitor knows how dense your body is. That tells it what percentage of you is fat, and what percentage is other stuff (muscle, water, etc.)
How is this helpful? Well, your aim as you lose weight is to be less and less fat. Fat is large, unhealthy and bulky. Muscle is slim and actively burns calories. 1. I got this monitor to keep track of my blood pressure so that I could give the printed reports to my doctor. I have one that I got from Sharper Image that is easy to use but you can’t upload readings to a computer. The one from Sharper Image was also not very accurate when compared to using a regular doctor grade cuff with a stethoscope. The Omron monitor is much easier to use than the Sharper Image one, is easier to ensure the proper position and the uploading of the readings is very easy. I took the Omron monitor to my doctor to have her calibrate it against her measurements and the Omron monitor was nearly identical. Based on that and the printed reports, I was taken off my blood pressure medication!

2. This device is very simple to use. Read the instructions; you have to position your arm in a certain location close to the heart. The unit detects its proximity and starts working. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because all my machines run Vista and even though the OS recognizes the device, the Omron software does not “see” it as connected. Maybe they will fix this in the next release of the software. For this reason I cannot say anything about the software that came with it.

1. I’ve just replaced my ViewSonic VX924 gaming LCD with the Samsung 226BW. Wow, what an amazing display! It’s 1000×1 contrast ratio is stellar. Blacks are extremely black and there is virtually no backlight bleed. (Backlight bleed tends to make black or dark colors look gray and it’s common with LCDs.) The colors are amazingly bright and vivid. In fact its default settings are almost too bright. Fortunately the 226BW comes preprogrammed with multiple screen modes such as Games, Internet, Movies, Sports, Custom, Default, etc. I prefer the Internet setting as the backlight is turned down to about 75% and it’s a lot easier on my eyes in a darkly lit room. The default settings would work best if you are in a brightly lit room, or if you plan on using the display at a distance.
The screen has an amazingly fast response time. Samsung claims 2ms gray to gray. I have no way to verify this, but I haven’t seen any motion blur when I play video games. Viewing angles are also superior with this screen. I can be quite a ways off center and colors are still vivid and crisp. My old display would look washed out and gray at almost any angle other than directly in front.

1. There isn’t much to really say about this product other than it does exactly what it say it will, does it relatively quickly, and potentially has nothing for you to learn before initial use. I had five monitors to calibrate; all LCDs except for one laptop display, four of them associated with dual monitored systems, mixed on both Windows XP and Windows Vista. I had all five calibrated within 20 minutes of opening the package, and reading nothing more than the quick start flyer; the software wizard in Easy Mode literally did everything in 4 steps without much input from me. On the monitor I perform a lot of graphic work on, I switched to the advanced mode and found the software to be just as intuitive and complete as it was in easy mode. Great product.
2. I bought the Eye-One recently since I was having trouble seeing shadow details on both my monitors. I am not sure if they changed packaging since the last reviewer, but mine was simple. Open the flap, fold the front down and everthing is right there for your use. It folds back up nice and easy to store everything until later use. As soon as I got the package, I brought it to my work computer and plugged it in. I used the “easy” method for this computer. It walked me thru each step (not many in the “easy” method). I was done in a few minutes. One great part is it shows you a comparison of before and after. It is amazing how bad the monitor was calibrated before.
I also brought it home for my laptop. I used the “advanced” setting for this computer. It was just as easy. There is an explaination on each step of what you need to do. The process only took a few minutes and I was done. It feels good to have a nice and consistant view between both computers.
