Panasonic brings a beautiful design and a wealth of features to this affordable Personal CD Player. One of the world’s lightest players, it boasts a full 40 seconds of shock protection using Panasonic’s advanced ASM 4.0 technology. You also get rechargeable nickel-metal hydride AAA batteries (3 hours charge, 8 hours play) – but don’t worry, if you forget to charge them, you can use AAA alkalines. Plus, to really extend play time add a pair of AA with the external battery case. It provides extended play time (using full AAA+AA battery capacity) of 50 hours, ensuring you’ll have music for days. A new chassis combines an ultra-thin body with a vibration resistant anti-shock mechanism and a heat-resistant polycarbonate body. Pop-up eject system makes changing discs even easier than usual. A digital servo system helps the unit maintain tracking, even in difficult circumstances. Normal, S-XBS (Super Extra Bass System), and Live EQ modes let you customize your tunes to your liking, and Panasonic’s exclusive MASH 1-Bit D/A conversion system ensures all your CDs will sound great.

This model, however, is a winner. The sound reproduction is terrific, despite the fact that the SL-CT470 has been designed to be battery-conserving. Usually, players that are particularly small, light, and economical in terms of power usage achieve these goals at the expense of amplifier power and quality. Not this time.
Some of the added features are quite good. The EQ setting for bass boost (s-xbs) typically distorts the original sound a bit, but this one is better than most. For listening to bass-heavy music like techno, r&b, or rock, this feature is quite useful. The added two settings for “live” and “train” are a bit puzzling, however. The “live” setting seems simply to overemphasize the treble setting, whereas the “train” setting (designed for listening in noisy settings) seems merely to shift the s-xbs setting a bit–it is NOT a true “noise-reduction system.”
There is a “resume” feature which allows you to stop the unit in mid-cd and then return to the track you were listening to previously.
Overall, I consider this to have been a great purchase. For me, the sound quality a player provides is more important than various bells and whistles that are added on. For people who share my priorities, this cd player is highly recommended.

I like to listen to music. It’s one of my favorite pastimes. Usually when I listen to music I’m doing something like exercising. And while you work out, it’s obvious that any C.D. player you’re using is going to get bumped up. But this is where the Panasonic SLSW860 comes in. It can take bump after bump after bump, and still keep going. It’s anti-shock is one of the best I’ve seen. It dosen’t fall short on sound quality either. It has a smooth sound, equal to a big stereo system. The only thing I have to complain about the Panasonic SLSW860 is the price. You can buy a stereo system for the price of this C.D. player. But aside from that this is the perfect C.D player for someone who is on the go alot and likes clean sounding music.
